MY COINS COUNT! YES, THEY DO!
Did you know that when it is 8 o’clock in the morning here in Saskatchewan it is 4 o’clock in the afternoon in Maputo? We are eating breakfast and they are getting ready for supper.
In Saskatchewan, most of us have clean water to drink and we have only to turn on a tap to quench our thirst. Where I live, our well has never gone dry and we are confident that our supply will be sufficient for our livestock, yard, and home.
“Across Mozambique, however, the search for clean and reliable water is urgent and constant. In some locations, people risk illness by drinking from contaminated sources. In other areas, months of drought leave communities unable to sustain gardens and livestock.”
A representative from MCC, Jana Meyer, says, “We’re trying to move away from just responding to these emergencies. We are finding ways to prevent them, or make the situation more tolerable.”
The money that you’ve collected for MY COINS COUNT projects is an excellent way that we can help to finance projects for digging wells, and building sand dams.
The Mennonite Relief Sale in Saskatoon is less than a month away – June 9th and 10th!
